Another day, another manicure! It's now March, which should be the start of spring, but the UK is covered in snow, so have some autumnal coloured nails!
To created this look I used the reverse stamping/DIY decal technique and the Born Pretty BP-L046 stamping plate. This plate has gorgeous flowery designs that are perfect for reverse stamping; I suspect this will be how I use this plate most.
The polishes I used for this design are:
- Seventeen Gel Colour in Black Cat
- Primark PS... Polish in Rogue
- W7 polish in Chestnut
- Barry M Speedy polish in Freestyle
- Rimmel 60 Seconds in Sun Downer
I started by making the decals. This is pretty simple; I just used a sandwich bag from IKEA and painted a layer of topcoat. When this was dry I stamped the design over it and coloured it in using a dotting tool.
Then I prepped my nails with a basecoat. I decided to do a gradient on my index and ring fingers, so I put down one layer of Rogue and then sponged the gradient on top using Black Cat and Rogue.
To add the decals I trimmed the base down to the approximate size and shape of the area around my cuticles. I then painted a thinnish layer of Black Cat. Once this was tacky I stuck the decal off and smoothed it out, then trimmed off the excess.
I topped it all off with a matte top coat and boom! Autumnal nails in snowy spring!
As for the stamping plate, much like the one I talked about in my last post this one is really good! I still need to try a few more of the designs on there but so far so good. I will definitely be continuing to use this one, especially as spring is coming up - roll on the flowery nails.
