Gold & Red nail art using Primark Polishes

Okay so this mani is not only super easy but super cheap too! I used:

  • Primark PS... Polish in Rogue and Naked
  • Dotting tool
  • Biutee JQ-69 stamping plate
  • Stamper (I used a clear one)
This look took a bit of trial and error but once I sussed out what worked (and what didn't!) it was a piece of cake.

As always I started with a base coat followed by two coats of Naked. I really like this colour and to be honest I had already worn it for a day or two before I jazzed it up with the red, which is why you might see some wear and tear around the edge of my nails in the photos.

I decided to see if the Primark polishes can be used for stamping. The coverage you get with one coat is pretty good on the ones I have tried so far, and usually a one-coat (or nearly one-coat) normal polish can work as a stamping polish.

Initially the colour I chose, Rogue, didn't pick up on my clear stamper. I also have a green rectangular stamper that I pretty much never use as I have really curved nails and I never get all my nail when I use it, but for testing purposes I gave it a go... and it picked up like a dream! Triumphant, I stamped that baby on my nail and...nothing happened. Zip. Zilch. Nada.

I was determined not to be beaten so I tried again with my clear stamper. This time I went SUPER fast. The Flash would have had trouble keeping up. By some miracle (or black magic) this time it worked! Granted the stamping isn't perfect - some of the lines on the bottom rose are pretty thin - but unless people are getting that close to your nails it's not noticeable.

I also decided to add a few dots around the cuticles on the other nails just to make the look a bit more interesting. I just used a double ended dotting tool, using the larger end for each middle dot and the smaller end for the others. I then finished with a top coat.

So that's it for this mani! I feel like this is quite classic looking and could easily be worn for Valentine's without being too in your face.

Please remember subscribe to this blog if you like what you have seen. I have only been at this for almost a month now so I am still working on when/how often to post.

I also post swatches on Instagram, so if you would like to follow me on there just click here to check it out.

Barry M Under The Sea Collection Review and Swatches

I'm a little later than I wanted to be in getting this out but I've been dealing with some life things over the past few weeks and I have been going through the process of adopting a cat! I've also felt a little unmotivated and just plain low over the past couple of weeks which hasn't helped. Nevertheless, on to the main point of this post: Barry M's Under The Sea nail paints! You can get these direct from  Barry M  or from your local Superdrug. They're £3.99 each (pretty standard for Barry M polishes), although I snagged mine in a 2 for £7 deal at Superdrug. As is suggested by the name, these shades are inspired by sea creatures, particularly mermaids. The bottle caps all have cute little fish decals which makes them stand out from the standard bottles. The collection has four duochrome shades: Angelfish, Butterflyfish, Jellyfish and Pinktail. Angelfish First up we have Angelfish. This is a gorgeous pale pink with a white shift, and the most sub...

Instagram Nail Art Challenge (Glam Nails): March Edition

Okay so I have been a little bit... not around on this blog for a while (again) thanks to finally adopting my cat! His name is Billy and he's an absolute sweetheart when he's not throwing the cat litter everywhere except the litter tray. As you would expect a lot of my time has been taken up dealing with him, and as such I've just been too tired to do my nails and write about it. Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a nail art challenge on Instagram I recently took part it. It's called the Glam Nails Challenge and is a series of prompts that you follow each month. Its feature account is  @glamnailschallenge , which is run by the lovely Bianka at  @nbnailart  (definitely check her out; her work is awesome!). The challenge uses the hashtag #glamnailschallenge followed by whatever month it is e.g. March was #glamnailschallengemarch. March was the first month I took part (my first ever challenge actually) and I absolutely loved it! Below is the list of prompts for e...

Purple & grey holo double stamp mani nail art

Today I wanted to show off this purple and silver glittery holographic mani! This was my first attempt at double stamping and I'm pretty pleased with how this came out. To create this I used: Barry M nail paint in Fasion Icon Barry M Frosted Cupcakes nail paint in Earl Grey Nailfun Super Lack polish in White Born Pretty Holographic stamping polish in #5 Born Pretty No-Smudge Top Coat Clear stamper Biutee JQ-46 stamping plate As always I started with a basecoat, followed by 3 coats of Fashion Icon on my index and pinkie fingers. The photos don't show it super well but this polish is gorgeous with flecks of holo glitters. I then added two coats of Earl Grey to the rest of my fingers. I chose to use the dandelion looking image on the JQ-46 plate. First I stamped the image in white, and then I went back over it using the Born Pretty polish. I've seen YaGala and Sveta Sanders (and a number of others...) use this technique and honestly I love how it looks. In...
